International development cooperation is a great innovation that emerged in the twentieth century. Big issues such as the North-South divide, market inequality, international debt or environmental policies have entered our homes thanks to the commitment of campaigns and international cooperation bodies. But all this is in the past. Today the world of cooperation is in crisis and the very concept of development aid appears outdated. Crisis of meaning, because we no longer know which development is realistic to move towards. And a crisis of effectiveness, because the visibility of the donors often matters more than the result for the beneficiaries.
